|Should we remove the "Set Waypoint" feature ?|

So I have been doing a lot of thinking and really want to find ways to add layers of complexity to the game without adding mods or cumbersome hotkeys.
One of the things would be to remove the ability for unit members to set waypoints on the map in a mission. Currently we can go to our maps and shift+click on the map to set a waypoint. This waypoint is then visible out side of map view and also gives you the distance.
I have always kind of hated this because to me it completely removes the "navigation/map reading" element from our missions. Not a lot of MilSim groups do this, however I think it would add a fun sense of studying terrain and topology in operations that we currently lack. But before I make a command decision on the issue I would like to get other peoples opinion.
So what do you think ?
I agree tht I have never played on a server with it removed and relied heavily on it until now. It does require you to read the map a lot more. It is much more difficult In aircraft for that matter.
On foot is there a way to get ranges and distances without using the designator or laser range finder ? There isn't a map scale or ruler with ace is there ? I know the commander tablet does, but is there another way ?
