Our persistent training server or SANDBOX, currently hosts our Tanoa Operators Course. That was always a temporary solution to a much bigger idea that we never got around to. However our new training initiative is now moving forward. The first step to that plan is to have a SANDBOX server that contains a multitude of training opportunities beyond just the Operators Course. We hope that this new list of features and plans for the SANDBOX excite and motivate members to train on the designated training nights of Wednesday and Thursday.
What will be contained on the SANDBOX Server ?
This will be much how it is now in game only slightly larger. It will be populated by users using either MCC or Zeus Ares. The goal of the operators course is to train movement and communication skills in urban and tight quarters.
The Field Course will comprise a sectioned off area of roughly 1000km x 500km with a start point and end point. It will contain random enemy patrols, enemy vehicles, minefields, IEDs, etc that the team can work to sweep or avoid entirely to make it to the end point of the course. This allows the course to be used for stealth movement training as well as full sweep and clears. Think "Operator Course" but much bigger and much less focus on urban environments. The Field Course will encompass open areas and varied terrain. The goal of the Field Course it to train movement, communication, and awareness in an open field enviroment.
Sweep & Clear Sites
Sweep & Clear Sites will be a small areas several km away from the other courses where small operations can be conducted. The areas will be built with markers and boundaries to give trainees set parameters to go up against. It can be populated via MCC, Zeus Ares, or Prepopulated in the mission sqm. The goal here is for unit members to apply the skills learned in the Operator and Field Courses in an actual small mission scenario. Because sometimes actual missions are just different than the way the courses work.
LSVs and MRAPS will be available as well as a pre planned route that leads all around the island and through differing terrains complete with IEDs, roadblocks, ambushes etc. The trainees can attempt the route themselves with self made time constraints to challenge communication, repairing, and other logistical stuff including just being able to drive properly. The goal here is to have everyone proficient at driving vehicles and driving within a convoy properly and safely, with hotkeys bound and on the fly navigation skills in place.
Basic Rifle Range
This will be a Basic rifle range with 50m, 100m, 300m, and 500m targets. Score integration as well as bullet camera, and target highlight functionality will be available to shooters. It will also include a section containing differing types of walls (concrete, tin, wood, etc) to test bullet penetration. The goal here is for operators to be able to test weapons and ammunition types under controlled circumstances to better understand the strength and weaknesses of certain weapons.
Basic Explosives Range
The Basic Explosive Range will allow the testing of grenades, stuns, and basic demo blocks. Understanding of triggers, how to spot mines, etc. This range will be off and away from other courses. Empty vehicle targets will auto respawn after they destruct. The goal here is for operators to understand explosives as a basic level. The goal here, much like advanced medical training, is that we are suppose to be tier 1 operators and as such they all need an understanding of explosives.
